Today’s Bible Reading

Naomi sends Ruth to meet Boaz at the threshing floor, hoping that he will redeem her. Boaz agrees to redeem Ruth if a nearer redeemer will not redeem her.

Vexed by the rampant open idolatry in Athens, Paul encounters Greeks who crave new ideas. Paul uses the altar “To the unknown god,” (17:23) as a segue into a sermon on the true God.

The Lord moves the people to believe the preaching of Jeremiah and spares his life.
