Today’s Bible Reading

Nehemiah lists priests and Levites who have come to Jerusalem, beginning with those who arrived with Zerubbabel and Jeshua about a century earlier (compare Ezra 2). The Judeans dedicate the wall of Jerusalem and organize the men who are to serve at the temple.

The hardships that we face in life are not necessarily results of specific sins that we have committed. The Lord uses all our hardships to His glory. The man is not blind because of any sin on his part or on the part of his parents. Jesus heals him, using his blindness as an opportunity to display the glory of God.

Ananias and Sapphira sell a piece of land and promise to give all of the proceeds to the church, but secretly keep some of the money for themselves. Both are struck dead as a result of their pretentious dishonesty. The apostles perform many signs and wonders. Out of jealousy, the high priest and the Sadducees imprison the apostles.
