The unbelieving wicked may afflict us, but the Lord will put them to shame and the blessing of the Lord will rest upon His people.

KJV Text (alt. audio): Chapter 129:

     1 A Song of degrees. Many a time have they afflicted me from my youth, may Israel now say: 2 Many a time have they afflicted me from my youth: yet they have not prevailed against me. 3 The plowers plowed upon my back: they made long their furrows. 4 The LORD is righteous: he hath cut asunder the cords of the wicked.

     5 Let them all be confounded and turned back that hate Zion. 6 Let them be as the grass upon the housetops, which withereth afore it groweth up: 7 Wherewith the mower filleth not his hand; nor he that bindeth sheaves his bosom. 8 Neither do they which go by say, The blessing of the LORD be upon you: we bless you in the name of the LORD.(KJV)

1. Lord, we come before Thee now,
At Thy feet we humbly bow:
Oh, do not our suit disdain!
Shall we seek Thee, Lord, in vain?

2. Lord, on Thee our souls depend;
In compassion now descend,
Fill our hearts with Thy rich grace,
Tune our lips to sing Thy praise.

3. In Thine own appointed way
Now we seek Thee, here we stay.
Lord, we know not how to go
Till a blessing Thou bestow.

4. Send some message from Thy Word
That may peace and joy afford;
Let Thy Spirit now impart
Full salvation to each heart.

5. Comfort those who weep and mourn,
Let the time of joy return;
Those that are cast down lift up,
Make them strong in faith and hope.

6. Grant that all may seek and find
Thee a gracious God and kind.
Heal the sick, the captive free;
Let us all rejoice in Thee.
