Today’s Bible Reading

In the aftermath of his sin with Bathsheba, David pleads to the Lord for a clean heart and a right spirit. This is the fourth of the seven “penitential psalms.”

As sinners we have no righteousness of our own that could ever make us acceptable to God. But our gracious God comes to our rescue. He gives and credits us the righteousness of Jesus, naming Him “the LORD Our Righteousness.”

Moses wanted to know how the Lord would lead His people. The Lord said, “My presence will go with you . . .” The Lord’s Presence is the Son of God. With His sure guidance the people would reach the Promised Land. Only by the perfect care of Christ can we reach the Promised Land of Heaven.
