Asaph presents the Lord as a mighty judge Who sees through the hypocrisy of insincere ritual. The Lord desires in His people true repentance and true faith in their Savior.

The Lord compares His people to an unfaithful wife. The Lord calls Israel to repentance, promising to send faithful shepherds to care for His people.
