Today’s Bible Reading

Moses reminds the people of the new tablets of stone that the Lord provided at Sinai. He recounts his prayer of intercession for them, which the Lord answered by sparing them. Moses urges the people to serve the Lord faithfully in repentance.

Jesus drives many demons out of a man. At the request of this legion of demons, Jesus sends them into a herd of pigs. Jesus heals a woman with a discharge of blood and raises the daughter of Jairus from the dead.

The Lord warns the people of the curse that will come with monarchy, but the people refuse to listen; they want to have a king in order to be like the surrounding nations. The Lord directs Samuel to give them their king.
