Today’s Bible Reading

The Lord commands Moses to take vengeance on a group of Midianites who have seduced Israel to idolatry in the incident of Peor (Numbers 25). The Israelite army destroys and plunders the Midianites.

Abijah’s son Asa was one of the few godly kings, a blessing from the Lord to Judah. Praise the Lord whenever we are blessed with God-fearing rulers!

Jeroboam and his family came to a bad end because of his idolatry, but notice how the young believing son was saved (in this case through death). Mark 10:15-16 comes to mind.

Salvation belongs to our God and to the Lamb who offered His life in our place, giving us the white robes of His own righteousness so we can enjoy an eternal inheritance in heaven.
