Today’s Bible Reading

The words that we speak and our handling of worldly wealth will demonstrate righteousness or wickedness.

It was the Lord who gave David his victories, using them to accomplish His purposes. David knew too that the victories were not his, but the Lord’s. Isn’t it the same with our victories too?

The jailer was “filled with joy” that he and his family had come to faith in Christ. That’s what the gospel does! It gives us joy!

Although Joab was loyal to King David, he was also ruthless and vindictive toward his enemies (or those he perceived as his enemies) as seen here in the murder of Amasa. David would not forget.
