Today’s Bible Reading

The people of Reuben and the people of Gad, who have a large number of livestock, request permission to settle east of the Jordan in the land of Gilead, which is ideal for livestock.

Just as one can’t buy his way into heaven, neither does material poverty assure one of a place in heaven. Rich or poor, faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God!

Jesus paid the full cost of our salvation. Our cost as His disciples is to let go of our love for the things of the world. May the Savior’s love make us glad to pay that paltry price.
