God’s word is what keeps our hearts on track. The Law shows us our sin and in the Gospel we delight in the forgiveness that is ours.

     9 BETH. Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? by taking heed thereto according to thy word.

     10 With my whole heart have I sought thee: O let me not wander from thy commandments.

     11 Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.

     12 Blessed art thou, O LORD: teach me thy statutes.

     13 With my lips have I declared all the judgments of thy mouth. 14 I have rejoiced in the way of thy testimonies, as much as in all riches. 15 I will meditate in thy precepts, and have respect unto thy ways. 16 I will delight myself in thy statutes: I will not forget thy word.(KJV)

1. How shall the young secure their hearts
And guard their lives from sin?
Thy Word the choicest rules imparts
To keep the conscience clean.

2. “Tis like the sun, a heavenly light,
That guides us all the day,
And through the dangers of the night
A lamp to lead our way.

3. The starry heavens Thy rule obey,
The earth maintains her place;
And these Thy servants, night and day,
Thy skill and power express.

4. But still Thy Law and Gospel, Lord,
Have lessons more divine;
Not earth stands firmer than Thy Word,
Nor stars so nobly shine.

5. Thy Word is everlasting truth;
How pure is every page!
That holy Book shall guide our youth
And well support our age.
