Elijah had been despairing, but God still very much had the upper hand over His enemies! Not only were there a number of believers left, but another prophet would follow Elijah to keep on preaching the Word.

     19 So he departed thence, and found Elisha the son of Shaphat, who was plowing with twelve yoke of oxen before him, and he with the twelfth: and Elijah passed by him, and cast his mantle upon him. 20 And he left the oxen, and ran after Elijah, and said, Let me, I pray thee, kiss my father and my mother, and then I will follow thee. And he said unto him, Go back again: for what have I done to thee? 21 And he returned back from him, and took a yoke of oxen, and slew them, and boiled their flesh with the instruments of the oxen, and gave unto the people, and they did eat. Then he arose, and went after Elijah, and ministered unto him.(KJV)

Hark! the Voice of Jesus Crying

1. Hark! the voice of Jesus crying,
“Who will go and work today?
Fields are white and harvests waiting,
Who will bear the sheave away?”
Loud and long the Master calleth,
Rich reward He offers thee;
Who will answer, gladly saying,
“Here am I, send me, send me”?

2. If you cannot speak like angels,
If you cannot preach like Paul,
You can tell the love of Jesus,
You can say He died for all.
If you cannot rouse the wicked
With the Judgement’s dread alarms,
You can lead the little children
To the Savior’s waiting arms.

3 If you cannot be a watchman,
Standing high on Zion’s wall,
Pointing out the path to heaven,
Offering life and peace to all,
With your prayers and with your bounties
You can do what God demands;
You can be like faithful Aaron,
Holding up the prophet’s hands.

4. Let none hear you idly saying,
“There is nothing I can do,”
While the souls of men are dying
And the Master calls for you.
Take the task He gives you gladly,
Let His work your pleasure be;
Answer quickly when He calleth,
“Here am I, send me, send me!”
