Edom (Esau’s descendants) were enemies of Judah (Jacob’s descendants). The Lord promised that Edom would fall and Judah would return from exile in Babylon to Jerusalem— in plenty of time for Jesus to be born near there.

Haven’t we seen this movie before? Once again Jehoshaphat of Judah seeks out the Lord when facing battle. Once again the word of the Lord’s prophet is proved right, for God’s Word never fails.
