Ahijah prophesies against Jeroboam, and the son of Jeroboam dies. Jeroboam dies, and Nadab becomes king over Israel. Meanwhile Rehoboam reigns in Judah. He also commits idolatry. Rehoboam dies, and Abijam becomes king over Judah.

Jeroboam dies, and Nadab becomes king over Israel. Meanwhile Rehoboam reigns in Judah. He also commits idolatry. Rehoboam dies, and Abijam becomes king over Judah.

King Rehoboam ignores good advice and as a result the kingdom is divided, Rehoboam ruling over Judah and Jeroboam ruling over Israel. Jeroboam makes two calves of gold for the people of Israel to worship.
