For their legalistic and loveless practices, Jesus pronounces six woes on the Pharisees and teachers of the law. Let’s guard against the proud spirit of the Pharisees, and with humbled hearts daily seek God’s forgiveness.

People sick with sin need Doctor Jesus, the only one Who can cure what ails us. Our hearts are filled with the joy of a wedding banquet as we cling in faith to our Doctor, Who is also the Bridegroom of His Church.

Jesus points back to Old Testament people and events to awaken the current generation to their need for repentance. That generation wanted a sign. Only the sign of Jonah—Jesus’ resurrection— would be given it.

Sometimes Jesus’ enemies are absurdly stupid. Why would the prince of demons fight against his own demonic army, thus dividing his own kingdom? It’s obvious! Jesus drives out demons by the finger of God.

Who is my neighbor? Jesus teaches that our neighbor is whoever we cross paths with in life, and whoever needs a good Samaritan to lend a helping hand. Jesus is the Good Samaritan Who gave His life a ransom for all.
