He recounts his prayer of intercession for them, which the Lord answered by sparing them. Moses urges the people to serve the Lord faithfully in repentance.

Continuing his farewell address to the people of Israel, Moses reminds his people that the Lord is not giving them the Land of Canaan because of any righteousness on their part. Moses reminds the people of the golden calf incident.
