Saul disobeys the instructions of the Lord, and Samuel rebukes him. The Lord rejects Saul, promising through Samuel to give the kingdom of Israel to a different king.

The Lord rejects Saul, promising through Samuel to give the kingdom of Israel to a different king.

Jonathan, the son of Saul, defeats the Philistines. Saul swears a reckless oath, nearly resulting in the death of Jonathan. Saul fights against the various enemies of Israel throughout his life.

Samuel rebukes Saul for disobeying the Lord and informs him that because of his unfaithfulness, his reign over Israel will not continue.
