The nation of Israel would be scattered on account of its idolatry. The Lord was willing to receive them back to Himself, but they continually ignored His calls and worshiped silver and gold.

Suffering, affliction, and poverty— these things are only for a time. Keep your eyes focused on the end where there is salvation, glory, and life forever with Jesus.

Israel burned with the heat of wickedness against God, but they were spiritually blind and too simple-minded to see their impending destruction. When they cried out, it was not to the One who could help.

“What am I going to do with you?” God said. He would heal sin-sick souls with His forgiveness, but for those who hardened their hearts, their wickedness would be revealed and judged.
