We live in turbulent times, yet we have an unfailing source of stability and calm, if only we take advantage of it. God’s faithfulness is certain and everlasting. No matter how the world around us rages, no matter what afflictions we may face, no matter our circumstances, He is faithful and His promises cannot fail. Let us cling to God’s precepts and testimonies, and we will not be shaken.

Psalm 119:89–96 (Listen)

Lamedh

89   Forever, O LORD, your word
    is firmly fixed in the heavens.
90   Your faithfulness endures to all generations;
    you have established the earth, and it stands fast.
91   By your appointment they stand this day,
    for all things are your servants.
92   If your law had not been my delight,
    I would have perished in my affliction.
93   I will never forget your precepts,
    for by them you have given me life.
94   I am yours; save me,
    for I have sought your precepts.
95   The wicked lie in wait to destroy me,
    but I consider your testimonies.
96   I have seen a limit to all perfection,
    but your commandment is exceedingly broad.

     89 LAMED. For ever, O LORD, thy word is settled in heaven. 90 Thy faithfulness is unto all generations: thou hast established the earth, and it abideth. 91 They continue this day according to thine ordinances: for all are thy servants.

     92 Unless thy law had been my delights, I should then have perished in mine affliction.

     93 I will never forget thy precepts: for with them thou hast quickened me.

     94 I am thine, save me; for I have sought thy precepts.

     95 The wicked have waited for me to destroy me: but I will consider thy testimonies.

     96 I have seen an end of all perfection: but thy commandment is exceeding broad.(KJV)

1. God’s Word is our great heritage
And shall be ours forever;
To spread its light from age to age
Shall be our chief endeavor.
Through life it guides our way,
In death it is our stay.
Lord, grant, while worlds endure,
We keep its teachings pure.
Throughout all generations.
