One Christian writer remarked that: “The anointing of Solomon is a type of the anointing of that greater Son of David, Jesus Christ, whom the Lord has set as His King on His holy hill Zion.”

As David neared death, another struggle for his throne erupted. The Lord used His prophet Nathan to ensure that Solomon would reign in David’s place rather than Adonijah.
